{Wordless Wednesday} Harry Potter Cathedral

"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." ~Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, by J.K. Rowling

While visiting the University of Washington campus last week, I saw a study room that looks like the dining hall in Harry Potter. The architecture was breathtaking both inside and out. It felt light magic. I might have to sneak in there and study myself sometime. I'll pretend it is for a potions exam!

  3. I totally agree my friend, but you know I can also see that maybe it was used as a church at one time. There are so many buildings like this. We have one just a few blocks away & they use it as a hall now for kids to hold their doings or maybe a dance and I've seen weddings in there too, but it's a big ol' cathedral church. It's such a shame. People just didn't come to this one I think because there was absolutely NO parking! Such a shame! HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

    1. Yes, it was once the chapel on campus I believe. I love the architecture, it is so elegant. I'm glad that there is a place to enjoy the ambiance of the space and the history it represents. Happy Valentine's day to you too!

  4. SO AMAZING! I was really bummed when I went to the University of Washington a couple of years ago and this building was closed.

    1. I've only very recently realized it was open to the public. A couple friends who went there talked about it all the time, I was glad to finally experience it. If you ever get a chance, it is worth checking out!

    1. I would encourage it if you get the chance. Then entire UW campus if gorgeous, especially in the spring when the flowers are blooming. There is also all kinds of architecture and gardens to explore.

  7. It does indeed. Our Uni, which is similar, is holding a Harry Potter lunch - and used to screen the movies in their Quad. So it was like you were watching it in Hogwarts....
